Rewatch is joining Loom

Today, we’re excited to announce that Rewatch is joining the Loom team at Atlassian.

As excited as we are about this new chapter, it’s a good time to reflect on why Scott and I started on this journey years ago. Both of us observed that video was exploding in all areas of our lives but it was shocking to us that more companies weren’t using video to its full potential for communication. Even as teams were becoming more distributed, they were still trying to communicate, largely in meetings, as if everyone was on the same timezone and in the same location. It was wild to us and still is.

So we founded Rewatch with the mission to help teams transform their in-person meetings by communicating more asynchronously with video. Instead of attending every meeting, people could watch the recording at 2x speed or even just read the transcript at 10x speed. With Rewatch, you no longer had meeting FOMO. You could just skip meetings altogether without worrying about missing any important information.

AI-powered workflows accelerated our vision even more. Rather than spending 30 minutes watching a call or attending a meeting, you could spend just 30 seconds reading the meeting summary delivered directly to your inbox. These time savings added up to meaningful ROI and has become an irreplaceable workflow in so many teams.

In short, we’re so proud of everything we’ve built and it’s been a privilege to serve all our amazing customers over the years. Thank you to each an everyone of you who have trusted Rewatch.

Looking forward

Over the last several months, we’ve come to know Joe Thomas and the team at Loom and it was immediately apparent how aligned our visions are for the future of video at work. That doesn’t always turn out to be the case so honestly it felt pretty special to be on the same page right away.

The Loom team has built a truly incredible product used by millions of people across the world. The opportunity to accelerate our vision with another world-class team is a dream come true.

We couldn’t be more excited to keep pursuing the incredible opportunity ahead of us. There’s still so much to build. Rest assured, Rewatch’s original vision for the future video at work is bright at Loom.

What happens now?

If you’re currently a Rewatch customer, your data is safe and your videos aren’t going anywhere. However, over the next 90 days, we’ll be sunsetting the Rewatch product and helping you transfer your videos off our platform. We’ll be communicating directly with account owners on how this will work very soon!

We will be doing everything we can to make this transition as smooth as possible.

A sincere thank you to all our past and present teammates, our former investors, and all our customers. We’ve had the time of our lives building Rewatch with you and we couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds. We can’t wait to build more amazing products and experiences at Loom. It’s going to be great.
